A shattered granite monument with a broken carved column and curled horns

A broken column is the cemetery's plainest sentence: a life cut short. This one goes further — the whole monument has fractured, the carved column snapped with its scroll curled over like a fern, the base letters weathering into guesses. Whoever it was raised for, the stone is telling the story louder than the name.

I photograph the broken ones because they are honest. Every intact monument pretends the grief was finished. This one admits it never was.
