Graves
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
1840 – 1893
The composer who put Russia's whole heart into music, buried under a mosaic of himself.

Swan Lake. The Nutcracker. The Sixth — the Pathétique, which he conducted nine days before he died. He wrote the melodies people who have never set foot in a concert hall hum anyway.
His grave at the Tikhvin Cemetery by the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in St. Petersburg carries a mosaic portrait and a bronze cross, and it may be the most visited patch of ground by a composer anywhere. People still come. Of course they still come.
